Two different ways to use Google Calendar

DealCater-managed Google calendar: DealCater creates and manages the calendar through its system connection. The customer does not need to connect a Google account for this option.

Imported company Google calendar: the company connects its own Google account, selects an existing calendar and chooses how it is synchronised with DealCater.

This page mainly describes the second option: connecting an existing company calendar.

What the connection does

DealCater displays the calendars available to the connected Google account.
A company user selects which calendar is linked to DealCater.
In import mode, events from the selected Google calendar are shown in DealCater.
In bidirectional mode, relevant event changes can be synchronised in both directions.
The first synchronisation and later updates may take a few minutes.

The Google account connection is shared at company level in DealCater. Users should therefore connect an account that the company is authorised to use for this purpose.

Google permissions requested

DealCater requests the following Google OAuth scopes:

openid, userinfo.email and userinfo.profile to identify the connected account;
calendar.calendarlist.readonly to list calendars from which the user can choose;
calendar.events to read events and, when bidirectional synchronisation is selected, create or update events.

Google may describe the event permission broadly because the technical scope covers calendars accessible to the account. DealCater uses it for calendars that the company explicitly links in the service.

Data processed

The integration processes the connected account name and email address, calendar-list metadata and event information from calendars selected by the company. Event information may include the title, description, location, dates, times, time zone and status.

DealCater also processes OAuth tokens and technical calendar, event, version and synchronisation identifiers required to maintain the connection, prevent duplicate events and diagnose failures. DealCater does not retain the complete raw Google event response after normalising the event data it needs.

Control, unlinking and deletion

A linked calendar can be unlinked in DealCater. Unlinking removes its local imported calendar data but does not delete or modify the Google calendar or its events.

The company Google connection can be disconnected after active linked Google calendars have been unlinked. DealCater then attempts to revoke the Google token and removes the local company token and connection metadata. Access can also be revoked at any time in the Google Account security settings.

Limited Use

DealCater’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Google user data is not sold or used for advertising or unrelated profiling.
